Daily Routines
Daycare children are divided into five groups
Kindergarten
Kindergarten children will go to the day care room immediately after dismissal at 2:20 p.m. Mrs. Myrna Rombado will pick up the children. Because the children have had a very full day, we feel that at this time a thirty minute quiet time is appropriate. Therefore, the children will be shown an educational child’s video or an appropriate child’s program. After cleaning up and going to the restroom a snack will be served. After the snack and clean-up, the children will do a special activity or craft. From 4:30-5:15 they will play outside or during very cold, hot or rainy weather they will stay indoors and play indoor games. The teachers for the kindergarten group are Mrs. Myrna Rombado and Mrs. Elena Miniades.
First Grade
The children will be picked up at 2:40 p.m. and taken to the Assembly Room. At this time they will have snacks, and when they have finished with snacks and play time the children will begin to do their homework at approximately 3:15. If your child does not have homework, or tells the day care teacher that he/she does not have homework, the student will be asked to sign a sheet confirming that homework was not assigned to him/her. Also, students will be asked to sign a sheet indicating the time homework is completed. The teacher for the first grade is Mrs. Hirleza Lopez.
Second and Third Grades
Mrs. Estela Leon will meet the children by the back door hallway and will take them to the day care building where they will have snacks in the classroom. After their snacks and a short break, the students will begin their homework at 3:30. Those students that do not have homework must observe silence and, may either read a book or play a quiet game. If your child does not have homework, or tells the day care teacher that he/she does not have homework, the student will be asked to sign a sheet confirming that homework was not assigned to him/her. Also, students will be asked to sign a sheet indicating the time homework is completed. At 4:30 they will go outside to play. If a student is not finished with his/her homework, Mrs. Leon will send them to MS room in order for the student to complete the homework.
Fourth and Fifth Grade
These students will be met by their day care teacher, Mrs. Maria Isabel Carter will take them to the day care building where they will eat a snack in the classroom. At 3:30 they will begin their homework. The students are expected to sit down to do their homework in complete silence. If your child does not have homework he/she will be asked to sign a homework sheet that will inform the teacher that he/she does not have homework or what time homework was completed until 4:30. At this time, students with completed homework may go out to play. *
*If the student has not completed his/her homework he will be expected to stay and complete the homework before going outside to play
Middle School
These students will be met by their day care teacher, Mrs. Doris Dennis, and taken to the day care building to have snacks. Right after they finish their snacks they will begin their homework. If your child does not have homework he/she is expected to sit quietly and read a book or play a quiet game. When your child indicates that homework has been completed, he will sign a sheet stating what time homework is completed.
If your middle school student has special activities, such as sports, STARS, etc., it is expected that we receive notification in day care regarding your child’s participation in any of these activities. |
