Beginning in upper elementary school at The Village School, students are encouraged to participate in a wide variety of extracurricular opportunities. With choices in athletics, the arts, student government, team and individual academic competitions, and philanthropic efforts, we truly offer something for everyone.
-
Music. There are three school choirs: Elementary, Middle School, and Performing Choir. Band and orchestra are also offered to students in grades four and above, and violin classes are available beginning in kindergarten.
-
Arts. An after-school musical theater group is comprised of students from the fifth to the eighth grades; students are chosen by audition. We also sponsor art, creative writing, and drama and speech competitions throughout the year.
-
Organizations. Students have a wide variety of options that provide the chance to exercise responsible leadership and personal growth. These include elementary and middle school chess clubs; middle school math and science teams; and middle school Student Council; National Junior Honor Society; and Spirit Club.
- PSIA. Private Schools Interscholastic Association provides the opportunity for children in grades two through eight to participate in a variety of academic competitions with other schools. Contests include a wide variety, such as storytelling, creative writing, spelling, vocabulary, maps & graphs, mathematics, number sense, prose or proetry, music memory, and art memory. Students are selected early in the year to work on the various skills and compete in the spring. www.PSIAacademics.org
