The Village School - West Houston Private School
About the Village School
History

Founded in 1966, The Village School is a fully accredited proprietary day school.  Since 1973, Betty Moore and Joy Koehl have served as directors, overseeing our growth from a small nursery school to an exceptional educational option for children from preschool through middle school.

In 2006/2007, the year The Village School celebrated its 40th anniversary of excellence, The Village School joined The Meritas Family of Schools. Meritas schools are a worldwide family of exceptional college preparatory schools committed to maximizing student potential. By building a network of top schools focused on educational excellence in the Americas, Europe, and Asia, Meritas provides its students with the preeminent college preparatory experience in the world.

Schools in the Meritas family all share a commitment to the highest levels of quality and professionalism. They hold in common the belief that a student-centric approach to education is paramount to successful preparation for life.

On its track record of excellence, The Village School opens its new upper school (college preparatory) program in August of 2008. With the benefits that membership in the Meritas Family of Schools brings, The Village School will be providing our students with a college preparatory experience unlike any other in the Houston Area.

Presently, the student body of The Village School is made up of 750 young people from around the world who share a singular goal: achieving a meaningful education.  They are busy, active, and involved, and their willingness to learn has enabled them to reach uncommonly high levels of achievement.

While 'what we do' - our educational program - brings unique benefits to students, 'how we do it' truly sets The Village School apart.

We are accredited by the Texas Association of Accredited Private Schools (TAAPS).
