Preschool
Our goal for preschool is to introduce children to the adventure and excitement of learning under the guidance of experienced and caring teachers. To this end, we present academics in a fun and loving way.
- Reading readiness includes development of auditory skills, visual and motor discrimination, kinesthetic activities, and linguistic enrichment.
- Math readiness has children manipulating concrete materials and interacting with their environments (as well as learning to recognize numerals and assign value).
- Gross motor development includes classroom activities as well as weekly sessions with a gross motor instructor.
- Foreign language instruction starts with 4-year-olds, as Spanish teachers use puppets and stuffed animal friends to share basic vocabulary with children and help them share the joy of learning a second language.
- Music education teaches children to match pitch, use rhythm instruments, play musical games, and enjoy a variety of songs and musical activities.
- "Arts Alive" brings expression and movement to life for the children, building creativity through the expressive arts.
- Technology Laboratory introduces the world of technology through computers for the children. Using a variety of software programs helps to strengthen academic areas.
- Field trips also begin with 4-year-olds, as children enjoy age-appropriate “adventures” such as trips to a farm, a supermarket, and nearby parks.
Preschool children thrive in a happy, cheerful environment that emphasizes socialization and language development and listening skills. Stories, songs, painting, cooking, science projects, and free play all help children prepare for more formal learning.
