Village Student Places in the Texas State Geographic Bee
4/8/2013
Congratulations to our own Advait P., seventh grader, who took 5th in the Texas State Geographic Bee. The competition was held in Dallas on Friday, April 5th. Out of more than 1200 school districts that held the school level competitions, 100 School level winners qualified for the State level competition after taking a written test. The 100 finalists were then put through eight preliminary rounds of questioning to shorten the list and select the Top 10. However, they ended up with 27 students who had perfect scores in the preliminary rounds. The 27 participants were then put through a tie breaker round to select the final top 10.

In the final round of the competition, after a dual point elimination, Advait P. placed 5th in the State level of the National Geographic Geography Bee and was top placed among the Houston area schools.
