For much of his professional life, Dr. Silver has balanced his interest in teaching and school administration with his academic interests in American history, specifically the histories of education, childhood, and youth. He has taught middle school, junior high, and high school students, undergraduates in history, and master’s level graduate students in education. Prior to joining The Village School and Meritas, Dr. Silver was the Assistant Head of School and Head of Upper School with the Emery/Weiner School (Houston, TX), where he helped establish a successful college preparatory program. And before moving to Texas, Dr. Silver served as Assistant to the President for Institutional Planning and Academic Resources at Pittsburgh’s leading independent school, Shady Side Academy. He was also the co-founder and chief administrator for the Pennsylvania Regional Art and Music Day Camp (PRAMUS) in suburban Philadelphia.
