Carpool Consideration

Each day the office personnel are confronted with phone calls from parents regarding rudeness or breaking of carpool rules.

It is seemingly very difficult to communicate the rules to all participants.  We feel that in many cases whoever is driving the vehicle is not familiar with the expectations.  In many cases, relatives are driving the children and may be totally ignorant of the rules that have been set forth.

Our neighbors also complain to us almost daily about bad manners displayed on the streets surrounding our school and about the dangers of nearly colliding with a vehicle which is making a U-turn in the street.

The most common complaint is in regard to drivers cutting in line in front of those who have been waiting.

In addition, students are being dropped off at the curb.  This is against policy and is extremely dangerous.  All students must be dropped off either at the front door, or for those in fourth grade and above, across the street by the new gym.

Please do everything you can to help things run more smoothly in our carpool lines, and please be sure that any individuals who are transporting your children are fully informed of the carpool rules.

Mexico Dance Showcase

February 21-24, 2008

Instituto San Roberto
Nuevo Leon, Mexico
A weekend of fun around DANCE is the agenda for a dance showcase to be staged at Meritas sister-school Instituto San Roberto.  Dancers of all types and abilities are encouraged to participate.  It will be a noncompetitive environment in which each student can feel comfortable with his or her own dance progress.  Master classes will be offered for students to learn the most up-to-date dance moves and choreography.

If you are interested in attending this showcase, please email Sharon and Kristi for more details.

The approximate cost for the weekend will be $100.00 plus air fare of about $350.00.

Help Needed with Membership Drive
PTA
Over 80 people attended last night's meeting and the PTA was approved.

It will take a few weeks to complete paperwork that will be filed with the Texas PTA to officially create our chapter.  In addition, we will get our tax ID number and set up our bank account.

Once this process is complete, we will conduct a membership drive.  Immediately, a few good volunteers are needed to work on the membership drive.

Click on the link below to let Jill Ribbeck know you are interested in helping with the membership drive.
