2 TRACK CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS

track 23

James Wang fights to place in lane 3 and Austin Tucker is in hot pursuit in lane 5 of their 8th grade boys' 200m heat in the conference meet to help claim the 8th grade boys' overall title.
The Village Track and Field Team will celebrate its season and two new conference championships with a team party after school Thursday, May 1, 2008.  At the conference meet Monday, April 21st, and Tuesday, April 22nd, the Vikings captured the 8th grade boys' overall title and 7th grade boys' overall title, earning the right to hoist 2 new banners in the Moore Gym.  The 8th grade boys scored 101 points to win the 3rd conference title in 3 years at VMS for this talented group.  The 7th grade boys scored 129 points for this group's first conference title in its first two VMS seasons.  All six squads earned overall points in their divisions including the 8th grade girls (46 points), 7th grade girls (26), 6th grade boys (9), and 6th grade girls (7).  The pep club's spirit tunnel send-off and the cheering of parents, siblings, Betty Moore, and our new athletic director Phil Henderson made the final day a special one.  Coach Harvey would like to thank all his athletes for their hard work and dedication, as well as Coaches Vieth and Berry, Marie Bisschops, Bob Tucker, Betty Moore, Phil Henderson, Linda Akhter, Annie Jackson, the pep club and student body, and all our parents and supporters who have made this season a truly memorable one.  Thank you.  Go Vikings!

DANGER IN CARPOOL
DO NOT DROP YOUR CHILDREN OFF IN THE STREET

With the end of school in sight, we must not lose sight of the importance of safety in our carpool areas.  Just this morning, a parent reported that children were crossing through the front driveway from the street.  The parent felt she came dangerously close to striking them with her car because she was not expecting children to be coming from the left side of her car.

Please re-read the carpool guidelines from the lower school or middle school handbook.  Both handbooks may be found on the school website on the parents' page.
