CROSS COUNTRY TEAM STREAKS TO FINISH

cross country

The cross country team will celebrate its season with a team party after school Tuesday, October 30.  The team dashed to complete the 2007 season with three meets in six days and can now take a deep breath.  Thursday, October 18th at the A.O.S. Meet at T.C. Jester Park, the 7th grade boys captured the 1st place team plaque, while the 6th grade boys and 6th grade girls were each the runner-up in their divisions.  Elise Renard and Cedric Ginestra were the top girl and boy finishers for the Vikings.

Two days later, on Saturday, October 20th at The 26th Annual St.John's School Ramble at Buffalo Bayou Park, the Viking boys claimed the M.S. 1st place team plaque, while the Viking girls claimed the M.S. runner-up team plaque.  Elise Renard and Cedric Ginestra were again the top girl and boy Viking finishers, with Cedric finishing overall first for M.S. with a dramatic chest lean to grab the tape ahead of a hard charging contender.

Three days after that, on Tuesday, October 23rd at the conference meet back at T.C. Jester Park, the Vikings claimed the boys' 2nd place team plaque and girls' 3rd place team honor.  The Vikings brought home 18 top ten individual medals: 6th grade- Nikhila Krishnan (1st place girls), Meredith Burch (3rd girls), Brent Atchison (5th boys), Yanni Economou (6th boys), Anshul Palavajjhala (9th boys); 7th grade- Artemis Nikolakis (4th place girls), Christiana Zgourides (6th girls), Eric Ribbeck (2nd boys), Sumant Agrawal (3rd boys), Aroosh Mody (5th boys), Lucas Sganderlla (7th boys), Taylor Donalson (8th boys), Kevin Kontchou (10th boys); 8th grade- Elise Renard (1st place girls), Cedric Ginestra (2nd boys), Henry Walker (7th boys), Scott Walker (9th boys).  Whew! Catch your breath.

Coach Harvey thanks all runners, supporters, parents, teachers, staff members, and Coaches Vieth and Berry for their hard work and support of our team.  Go Vikings!
