in Houston Freedom Fest

HOUSTON FREEDOM FEST

The Houston Freedom Fest is an event that will be taking place this year on Veteran's Day, November 11. This community-wide program will follow the parade and will honor all of our troops. Mrs. Pyle, the VS/VMS band director, and Mrs. Woods, the VS first and second grade music teacher, are proud to be participating by singing in the 200-voice choir that afternoon. Grammy-Award winning singer Lee Greenwood and the Texas A&M Singing Cadets will also be singing.

Please join in honoring those men and women who have given so much for the cause of freedom. The festivities will start at 2:00 P.M. at City Hall in downtown Houston. For complete details go to www.HoustonFreedomFest.org

VETERANS HONORED

November 6, 2007 at 9:30 AM
veteran
Village School students will mark Veteran's Day with a program celebrating those who have served our country.  Veterans from our community have been invited to attend.  Our students' parents and grandparents who are veterans are also invited to attend this assembly.

Carpool Safety
car

Several near misses involving our students, especially during peak carpool times, have occurred recently.  It has been reported that on these occasions the drivers were talking on or using a cell phone.

We strongly request all drivers to abstain from using any hand-held devices while operating a vehicle, particularly when on or around The Village School campus.  Pedestrians are particularly at risk when drivers are talking on their cell phones. During carpool, traffic is on the increase at all intersections near the school.  Please exercise additional caution during all drop-off and pick-up times.  The safety of our children, families and staff is of extreme importance to all of us.

MERITAS GIRLS VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT
volleyball

On Friday, November 9th, The Village School will host a Meritas Girls' Volleyball Tournament!  Girls from most of the Meritas schools will fly into Houston on Thursday, November 8th.  Tournament games are scheduled on Friday from at 9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.  Friday evening, the girls will attend a University of Houston Cougars vs. SMU Mustangs volleyball game.  On Saturday, the girls will travel to Kemah Boardwalk for a day of fun and that evening, a boot stompin' Texas BBQ tops off the weekend!
