Our Veteran's Day Assembly was well received by the students and attending Veterans. Speeches by faculty and Dr. Silver were enjoyed by all as were the performances of the band, choir and orchestra. One highlight of the gathering was the playing of "Taps" by Brent Atchison and Meghan Beckman. |

| BAND RESULTS from REGION |
ATSSB (Association of Texas Small School Bands) Region auditions took place in Sealy last weekend. We took 25 students and 15 made the region band, with four placing in 1st alternate and one placing 2nd alternate. These students will be participating in an all-day clinic on Saturday, November 10th, at Kinkaid, with a closing concert at 6:00 P.M. Everyone is welcome to attend the concert and support these wonderful musicians. The following were awarded positions in the band: Guan Chen, flute - 3rd chair; Makayla Lara, flute - 7th chair; Paula Inglis, flute - second alt.; Anya Vaporciyan, oboe - 2nd chair; Susan Diaz-Meshijian, clarinet - 2nd chair, Cristi Keeter; clarinet - 5th chair; Guillaume Kosmala, clarinet - 8th chair; Evyn Williams, clarinet - 10th chair; Meredith Burch, clarinet - first alt.; Michael Wong, alto sax - 4th chair; Alex Babec, alto sax - 5th chair; Yanni Economou, tenor sax - first alt.; Brent Atchison, trumpet - 2nd chair; Meghan Beckman, trumpet - 8th chair; Sean Pourian, trumpet - 11th chair; Eric Symmank, trumpet - 13th chair, Jonathan Solis; trumpet - 14th chair; Elaine Parizot, trombone - 7th chair; Anshul Palavajjhala, tuba - 2nd chair; Sachit Bhasker, pitched percussion - first alt. The following also participated in and prepared for this important event: Shivam Bembalkar, Darius Tamboli, Nikhila Krishnan, Monika Rao, Amber Camilleri. Congratulations to all participants!

HOUSTON FREEDOM FEST |
HOUSTON FREEDOM FEST
The Houston Freedom Fest is an event that will be taking place this year on Veteran's Day, November 11. This community-wide program will follow the parade and will honor all of our troops. Mrs. Pyle, the VS/VMS band director, and Mrs. Woods, the VS first and second grade music teacher, are proud to be participating by singing in the 200-voice choir that afternoon. Grammy-Award winning singer Lee Greenwood and the Texas A&M Singing Cadets will also be performing.
Please join in honoring those men and women who have given so much for the cause of freedom. The festivities will start at 2:00 P.M. at City Hall in downtown Houston. For complete details go to www.HoustonFreedomFest.org |

| MERITAS GIRLS' VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT |

The Village School is hosting the Meritas Girls' Volleyball Tournament! Girls from most of the Meritas schools flew into Houston on Thursday, November 8th. Tournament games are scheduled on Friday from at 9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. Friday evening, the girls will attend a University of Houston Cougars vs. SMU Mustangs volleyball game. On Saturday, the girls will travel to Kemah Boardwalk for a day of fun and that evening, a boot stompin' Texas BBQ tops off the weekend!

The Village School will have its Admissions Open House next Tuesday, November 13th from 6:30 - 8:30 P.M. The evening is intended for new and prospective families. As always, we appreciate your help in encouraging prospective students and their families to attend. |
| BASKETBALL NEWS |

Hit the road with the Viking basketball girls as they travel for two games this week, --First Baptist Monday November 12th (7th-4:15 and 8th-5:45), and at St. Francis Episcopal on Wednesday November 14th (7th-5:00 and 8th-6:15).
This past Monday, November 5th, the 7th and 8th grade boys hosted The Regis School in two non-conference games, with the 7th grade boys winning in their first game of the season 27-15 (the first coaching victory for Head Coach Vieth and Assistant Coach Berry). The 8th grade boys fell 33-30 after outscoring The Regis School 20-11 in a second half comeback. Austin Tucker reached double figures with 11 points to lead the 8th grade Vikings.
Tuesday November 6th, Coach Harvey and the 8th grade girls and boys traveled up the street to Briarwood to outscore their opponents 73-18 in two games, with the girls notching a win in their first game of the season 30-9, and the boys bouncing back from Monday's setback with their first win of the season 43-9. Hanna Healy led the Viking girls with 13, and Cedric Ginestra led the Viking boys with 10. Go Vikings! |
